Mr. President, Alabama municipal firefighters are not collected
HARTSELLE - President Kenny Thompson said the end of firefighters of the city are not “collected” and evil rumors that the current government does not deal for firefighters.
His comments came in response to rumours that the guides say they are heard in the community.
Thompson said he does not want each department or city employees to believe that the Council did not supply.
“I have several firefighters to tell me that she felt like a had and that we can not work with them,” he said.
Thompson is of the opinion that the rumours are linked in part to the refusal of the Council of Chief approve the proposal from Steve Shelton fire victims of insurance companies for fire calls.
In order to restore a portion of the costs of response to fire calls in March Shelton proposed that the city signed a contract with Billing Corp. pact Union Grove on behalf of insurance companies.
The contract would not cost the city money, but the Covenant would have 10 per cent of all collected hard for them to the Mode.
Shelton said the contract would have been given the division of revenue taken to replace equipment-out.
“We simply do not think it was good for the inhabitants of the city,” said Thompson. “There was no support for the latter.”
Shelton acknowledges that some firefighters have concerns, but he disclaims any responsibility that the Council did not support the firefighters.
“They listen and were cared for,” he said.
Shelton said he understands that members of the Council that limited means, and they have different priorities.
But as a leader, he said, it is part of its responsibilities, the mayor and the Council announced by firefighters.
If the Council Shelton rented, for example, he said the mayor, that one of the heavyweights on Pumper Station 2 would probably be in need instead of two years.
Shelton said the truck is nearly 20 years and has recurring problems.
“The past, what we want is to comply with a fire and equipment failure of a situation,” he said.
It happened almost two weeks if a heavyweight on the station had 1 Pumper cars of a fire-scene.
“We had just the action of firefighters and trucks stop operating,” said Shelton.
The truck was five days in the shop, City Records.
Thompson said he wanted a new truck at a cost of more than $ 240000 in the next budget.
“I have for these three votes,” he said.
Another point of contention, already nearly 20 years is the construction of a third light vigil.
Firefighters have insisted that the station because Hartselle residence given your country in the city.
Thompson and Shelton agree that the construction of the station is simple, because it would cost a single.
“The big question is personal,” said Thompson. “We can not afford to do that.”
Shelton true. He said that it would cost at least $ 150000 per year for station personnel on the page “Bare Bones to the wage scale in the Entry-Level”.
After the third station would be wonderful, but Shelton said he prefers updated.
“More people in the department and the equipment is a greater need at this stage,” said the boss.
Since September 2003, the Council has spent $ 368672 in the fire. It included a conductor truck, renovation of the station 1, emergency measures and new motor vehicles for the head of the firefighters.
Because revenue limited, Thompson said, they must, each department and identify key needs.
