Insurance executive indicted in criminal fraud case
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Montgomery insurance executive was amended by a Grand Jury of the Confederation to accuse 26 on behalf of fraudulently collecting workers compensation insurance premiums to finance an expensive lifestyle.
Louis Franklin, state Attorney General for the Near District of Alabama, said a federal grand jury charged John W. Goff with the e-mail fraud, embezzlement, conspiracy and making false statements to the Alabama insurance regulatory authorities.
The indictment Goff’s workers collected insurance premiums for both insurance companies, but not other companies and their share of the premiums.
Franklin, the indictment, announced Wednesday, said Goff is accused of using funds to finance an expensive lifestyle.
He said that the indictment includes 23 categories of e-mail fraud against him and says that he and others developed a system to the detriment of its customers.
Goff’s lawyer Tommy Gallion, was in the city on Thursday and said he had not had the good fortune to the indictment, but a press conference on Monday, 2 hours.
“We believe we have show that the facts are shocking to the general public, what Justice Division for the protection of the population,” said Gallion.
Franklin said the indictment, he collected workers compensation XL Specialty Insurance Co. And Greenwich, from 1 Insurance Co. January 2002 until April 30, 2003, but not the mission of the company, on the part of their insurance premiums.
