HB627 Alabama, the definition of insurance fraud and make it easier for Insurance Commissioner Walter A. Bell, with neighbouring countries to fight against fraud, has the support of the Alabama Independent Insurance.
While young AIIA Agent’s legislative conference last week in Montgomery, AIIA a position to support five bills and say they do support two bills.
The bill defines fraud insurance fraud by a person, insurers, reinsurers, brokers or their representatives. It authorizes the DOI on alleged fraud and insurance are also reports of some public officials for suspected insurance fraud.
The law would also civil immunity of certain persons, reporting and review of suspicion of fraud and require assurances that the confidentiality of information and files. This law is an insurance unit for the fight against fraud within the Office of DOI alleged fraud on the skills and insurance companies and appeals to enforce this bill. The bill would result for the insurer, for financing the unit, for the creation of the Insurance Fraud Unit funds and resources of the Fund for the late September 30, 2005 and September 30, 2006.
HB627 civil penalties of up to $ 1000 per offence or suspension of the licence or certificate of the Authority. It would also apply to civil and criminal penalties in addition to restitution to the injured party and that filing a complaint over six years.
The bill would also allow the commissioner of insurance for the dissemination of management rules that law and seek license from the Division of three hours of ethics training producers of insurance or practices. The bill should also indicate that the organizations of health maintenance, according to the rules of the Commissioner under § 27-7-43 and 27-7-44, Code of Alabama 1975, as part of the licensing and privacy.
AIIA supports this bill because it believes, Alabama owes its neighbours cracking of fraud. Alabama has taken steps to familiarize themselves with the agents and insurance companies, but AIIA supports this legislation to reduce consumer prices on fraud in the insurance issues.
There is little in the statutes discourage committed insurance fraud. AIIA feels this bill, the investigation of fraud and see a tightening of sanctions to compel those captured fraud.
